Henri
Gadbois, a native Houstonian, graduated from
Lamar
High School and the University of Houston,
receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1952 and a
Master of Letters Degree in 1953.
He
has been an exhibiting artist since 1947 and has
had
exhibitions of his work throughout the state .
His
work is in the collections of the Museum of
Fine
Arts,
Houston,
the Longview Museum, the
San
Antonio Fine Arts Association, and many
public and private collections. Although his
main
interest has been in painting the Texas
landscape, he is also interested in primitive rug
hooking, quilting and ceramics. A request to
create faux oysters for Yuletide at Bayou Bend
in
1989 has lead to a business of creating
artificial foods that are chemically safe for
museum display. His company is called Faux Foods
and
can be seen on the internet at
www.realfauxfoods.com
With
his artist wife, Leila McConnell, he spends
as
much time as possible at their home in the
Texas
hill country in Ingram, Texas on the
banks
of the
Guadalupe
River---especially every
full
moon.
